It’s the latest movie from the Disney studios..and it’s a good one.
In theaters now, “Prom” is the coming-of-age tale of that classic time in everyone’s life.
What should you wear? Or, the bigger question– who are you taking?
I had a chance to talk with Janelle Ortiz- who makes her motion picture debut in “Prom”.
“Prom” really reminded me of the classic films in this genre- “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club”. I later found out that some of the scenes were actually shot at the same school set as the backgorund in “Sixteen Candles”. Cool.
Here’s the plot-
Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; Prom portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite.
For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom.
Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most important events.
And, since it IS prom season….I figured I’d ask Janelle Ortiz (who plays the character Ali Gomez in the movie) about her prom and her experince of making her first movie!
