Chris Brown had the plug pulled on “@ChrisBrown” after getting into a Twitter tiff with comedy writer Jenny Johnson on Sunday (November 25) night.

Johnson, who often makes celebrities the punchlines of her irreverent tweets, caught Brown’s attention with a reply to one of his tweets.

“I look old as f**k! I’m only 23…,” Brown tweeted, to which Johnson replied: “I know! Being a worthless piece of s**t can really age a person.” [Check out the Twitter beef here.]

Johnson has made Brown a main target of her scathing tweets since he was arrested for abusing singer Rihanna in 2009. But the “worthless” tweet set off a string of personal attacks and crude insults that ended with Brown’s account being deleted altogether.

While it is unclear if Brown deliberately shut down his account or if there was some technical difficulty, in his absence, he joins many recording artists who decided to break from the strain of social networking.

Nicki Minaj shocked the Twitterverse in April when she deactivated her Twitter account in a huff, but came back a week later after millions of her Barbz demanded her return. Likewise, Kanye West deleted all his rants and much talked about messages from the social sharing site in October. He tweeted “Be Back Soon” before going dark, only to return the next day with a tribute to Steve Jobs on the anniversary of the Apple visionary’s death.

Brown did not offer any information when he would return, or if @ChrisBrown would live again, but if previous tweet-deleters offer any insight into his next move, Brown will be back to his Twitter beefs in no time.  –Erik Parker, CBS Local
