According to reports, a theater in Denmark that was supposed to premiere a play about the late British singer Amy Winehouse has canceled the play due to Winehouse’s family blocking use of her music and photos.

The play “Amy” which was written by a group of more than ten Danish playwrights, was slated to open opened on January 30 in a 220-seat theater in central Copenhagen. The play was to center around Winehouse interviews, concerts, letters and articles.

Koda, The Danish copyright agency, granted permission for Denmark’s Royal Theater to perform the play. However, reports indicate that Winehouse’s father Mitch, had strong objection to others using his late daughter’s music, photographs and other personal paraphernalia. There was no reason reported to his objections.

“Amy” was a play that would have profiled the GRAMMY-award singer and chronicled her usage of alcohol and drugs. Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July of 2011 at the age of 27.
