What do you get when you merge one of the most iconic saxophonists with one of the most legendary bands ever? You get music that transcends time, space and even genre.

Iconic jazz musician Branford Marsalis played with The Dave Matthews Band Wednesday evening at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Marsalis played during the band’s hits, “What Would You Say” and “#41” offering signature saxophone sound and unforgettable runs as the stadium clapped, cheered and encouraged more from him.

The first Matthews/ Marsalis collaboration took place back in 2006 at the Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam. It was then that Marsalis sat in with the band during a North Carolina show.

The DMB is currently on tour and is scheduled to play in their hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia Friday and Saturday and will continue on to Baltimore, Maryland on December 18. Incorporating jazz, soul, bluegrass, and rock genres, DMB seems to have music that have proven to stand the test of time.
