He’s known for bringing the laughs and his latest hosting gig will allow him to do so as an iconic musician is honored for his artistry and philanthropy.
In an announcement made by the Recording Academy, Jon Stewart will host the MusiCares salute to Bruce Springsteen. Also announced Wednesday, singers Sting, Elton John, Neil Young, Mumford & Sons, Mavis Staples and Kenny Chesney will be among more than a dozen superstars who will will also pay tribute to the “Born in the USA” singer during the February 8 concert that will be held in Los Angeles days before the GRAMMY Awards.
Known for his signature comedic style, quick wit and brash sense of humor, Stewart is the host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.”
Springsteen who is MusiCare’s person of the year, is coming off of the heels of his “Wrecking Ball Tour” which was the second highest grossing tour of 2012; Madonna’s tour was first.
The MusiCare award is given to a performer who exudes tremendous artistry to their craft as well as philanthropy. Proceeds from the MusiCare concert will benefit the organization’s emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery programs.
