It’s a fact; blood is an essential component for our health, longevity and well being. With January being National Blood Donor Month, officials encourage residents to make donating blood a new year’s resolution.

Did you know that every day in our country, approximately 44,000 units of blood are needed in hospitals to help treat trauma victims, organ transplant patients, surgery patients, premature babies and patients receiving treatment for cancer and host of other diseases?
