We all know junk food is both not good for you, and addictive, right? Well one cookie brand is apparently just as addictive as drugs. Which brand?
A study at Connecticut College found “rats formed an equally strong association between the pleasurable effects of eating Oreos and a specific environment as they did between cocaine or morphine and a specific environment.” In other words (for lab rats at least), the cookies-with-the-creme-center are just as addictive as cocaine or morphine.
In the food experiment, they put the rats in a maze, with Oreos on one end and rice cakes on the other. In the drug maze, they’d get an injection of cocaine or morphine on one end or on the other end, an injection of saline. “The research showed the rats conditioned with Oreos spent as much time on the “drug” side of the maze as the rats conditioned with cocaine or morphine,” they found.
So that explains why we just can’t stop eating junk food! In fact, the Oreos activated “significantly more neurons” in the brain than drugs like cocaine or morphine!
By the way, just like humans, the report found that rats go for the cream-filled middle first too.
J.J. Watt is reassuring fans he’s going to do everything he can to win against K.C. on Sunday.
“All we can do as a team is go to work and that’s what we’re going to do. Words don’t win games. Work does…. Honestly, I don’t have words for y’all. Just work. I’m just going to work. The fans want results and that’s what I’m going to try to give them,” he told Chron.com reporters.
That’s all he had to say, and didn’t take any questions.
“Hopefully I’ll answer all your questions with my play on the field. And if there are any further questions I’ll see you Sunday after the game.”
GET ‘EM, J.J.! Go Texans!
This woman got fined by League City… because her dogs were barking. Fair? Unfair?
If you haven’t heard the GREAT new song from The Fray, I’ll play it again tomorrow (Fri) morning at 7:20am, and Isaac Slade from the band checks in. He’s got some fun gossip on Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote the song. He’s the One Republic lead singer, and apparently has a very addictive habit. Find out what it is at 7:20am tomorrow!
