Everyone walking into the ‘My2K Tour‘ at Revention Music Center last night knew they were in for a trip down memory lane…but I’m not sure if any of us knew what was going to happen! Enter the years 2000-2005(ish)…
Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, NSYNC, 98 Degrees, Blink 182, Ryan Cabrera, O Town, Dream, Christina Aguilera and Ashlee Simpson (just to name a few) were all at the peak of their music careers…millions of fans and albums sold, huge tours and one show that brought everyone together after school each day: TRL.
Seriously, I’m pretty sure if were ever lucky enough to sit in the live audience of the show your dreams were MADE. Carson Daly was your host weekdays with the biggest names in music up in Times Square with him. Last night, the ‘My2K Tour‘ brought back SO MANY of those wonderful memories!
The ladies of Dream opened up the show first with their hits like “This Is Me,” “He Loves You Not” and more, plus even brought out a selfie stick to take pictures with the crowd. (talk about staying with the times, right? lol) Ryan Cabrera followed Dream with songs like “On The Way Down,” “True,” and even covered Goo Goo Dolls, and the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bellaire.
O Town took the stage after Ryan opening their set with “Liquid Dreams,” “We Fit Together,” “These Are The Days,” and closed with their biggest hit to date: “All Or Nothing.”
98 Degrees came on last with Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffries all coming out it MATCHING CAMO OUTFITS JUST LIKE BACK IN THE DAY!! Pretty sure that was the best costume choice those guys could’ve gone with. They went through their hits like “The Invisible Man,” “The Hardest Thing,” “I Do,” “Gimme Just One Night (Una Noche,)” and then they also did a medley of the biggest TRL hits from the early 2000’s. I’m talking songs like “Hit Me Baby One More Time”, “Bye Bye Bye,” “All The Small Things” from Blink 182,” “Fly” from Sugar Ray and into a few song dedication to the late and great Prince.
Needless to say, all these acts and songs brought us back to such a fun time in music that some of us may have forgotten about. THANK YOU for this tour, and for reminiscing with me!
