Houston Rockets mascot, Robert Boudwin announced today he is leaving the Houston Rockets organization after 21 years.
Boudwin has been the first and original Clutch The Bear since 1995 and earned the bear a spot in the Mascot Hall Of Fame according to the Houston Chronicle.
“It has been quite a ride. I’ve performed over 1,000 games and have entertained at 6,000+ shows/appearances/events in Houston. I’ve had the pleasure of entertaining in most states across the country and in 11 countries around the world, including an Armed Forces Entertainment Tour for our troops in Bosnia, Kosovo & England.”
On his Facebook page, Boudwin stated he is moving on to spend time with his wife, Amy and soon to be FIVE kids! He will also be launching a marketing consulting practice and inspirational speaking.
“Finally, I wish to thank all the AMAZINGLY PASSIONATE Rockets Fans who have laughed and cheered with me over the last 2 decades, and have helped me achieve my claim to fame… which is I’ve hugged more Houstonians than anyone on the planet!”
The Rockets will have auditions to fill Boudwin’s role as Clutch the Bear.
