The Bronx Zoo welcomed a baby penguin to its exhibit for the first time in NYC history!
The baby penguin is also known as a “fairy penguin” or Blue Penguin because of its tiny stature. According to CBS New York, Adults are only about 13 inches tall and weigh 2 to 3 pounds.
The little penguin was bred as part of the Taronga Zoo’s little penguin conservation programs in Sydney Harbor where the rest of the penguin colony was hatched.
The chick was hatched on May 10th but made its very first public debut this week.
