Anyone else in TEARS last night watching Michael Phelps and his 4×100 meter relay team take the gold medal after last night’s race? What an emotional moment for everyone!
21 year-old team member Ryan Held just couldn’t hold back the tears last night as the team was being given their medals.
As we watched Michael Phelps, Nathan Adrian and Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Held listen to the “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Ryan told USA Today “I didn’t think I was going to cry. I was too tired to cry, I didn’t think I could cry. I’ve heard the national anthem hundreds of times, but as soon as that played it was just something different. The tears just started rolling down my face.”
According to People Magazine, ‘The win was a big one for Team U.S.A. swimming. The U.S. men won gold in 2008, but at the 2012 Olympics France bested the relay team to take first place. On Sunday, the U.S. men took back their gold medal, coming out ahead by just under 0.6 seconds.’
Way to go TEAM USA!
