Everyone remembers the famous line, “YOU CAN’T SIT WITH US” from “Mean Girls.” Unfortunately, while it was a funny scene, so many students actually face that kind of humiliation daily.
16-year-old Natalie Hampton spent her entire 7th-grade year eating alone at lunch. Now, she’s found a solution to the problem so many kids face with an app that lets students find a place to sit at lunch.
The app is called “Sit With Us” and lets students become “ambassadors” that post open spots at their lunch table so anyone looking for friends has a place to sit. The idea is to eliminate the humiliation of possibly getting rejected.
“Sit With Us” helps students who have difficulty finding a place to sit, locate a welcoming group in the lunchroom.
In the app description, the social networking app says the goal is to promote inclusion and kindness in schools.
According to Huffington Post, Hampton may have sat alone at lunch in the 7th grade, but at her new school, she is happy and thriving!
This girl deserves it! Kids can be so harsh towards each other and this is the sweetest way to begin changing a problem so many have had for so long. This may even help out college students or even just anywhere in general. I think a lot of people enjoy meeting new friends and branching out from their same everyday group.
