Kathy Bates Is Getting A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame!

In a ceremony that will take place on September 20th, Kathy Bates will become the 2,589th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Bates received an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 1990 for her role in “Misery” and she has earned two Emmy Awards; one for her role in “Two and a Half Men,” in 2012, and the other for her role in “American Horror Story: Coven,” in 2014.

Kathleen DoyleKathyBates has been on both sides of the camera as an actor and director. According to her Wikipedia page, after appearing in several minor roles in film and television during the 1970s and the 1980s, Bates rose to prominence with her performance in Misery in 1990. She followed this with major roles in Fried Green Tomatoes in 1991 and Dolores Claiborne in 1995, before playing a featured role as Molly Brown in Titanic in 1997, which was at the time the highest grossing film of all time. Bates received a Tony Award nomination for her 1983 performance in the Broadway play ‘night, Mother. She won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in Primary Colors in 1998, for which she also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for About Schmidt in 2002.

Her television work has resulted in fourteen Emmy Award nominations, two of which were for her starring role on the television series Harry’s Law and most recently, a win for her highly praised appearance in the third season of FX horror-thriller series American Horror Story, where she portrayed the real life socialite Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie. She won another Emmy Award in 2012 for her portrayal as the ghost of Charlie Harper on CBS comedy series Two and a Half Men.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an internationally-recognized Hollywood icon with approximately 24 star ceremonies annually. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce continues to add stars to the Walk of Fame as the representative of the City of Los Angeles.
