Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams don’t just play sisters on TV; they’re soul sisters IRL — and now they have the matching tattoos to prove it.
A few days ago it was reported that the two Game of Thrones stars walked into a tattoo parlor and came out with matching tattoos. Turner officially showed off the new ink on her forearm on the red carpet at the 2016 Emmys. What was so meaningful to both of them that they decided to ink it on themselves? It was a date: “07.08.09.” which is August 7, 2009 in the U.K.
Turner said she got inked in peach after her mother’s pleas and the date marks the day both she and Williams booked Game of Thrones and became Stark sisters. That’s pretty significant!
“We’ve always kind of said we wanted matching tattoos,” Turner told E! on the red carpet, adding that during Season 1, she and her Game of Thrones cast mates made plans to get matching tattoos at the end of the series. However, given the rate at which characters die on Game of Thrones, the pair decided to speed up the tattoo process in case one of them got killed off before the final season. “We don’t know if we’re going to make it, so Maisie and I were like, ‘Let’s get these ones before anyone kills us,’” Turner said.
